A first-time-in-college (FTIC) applicant is required to possess a diploma from an accredited high school with certain high school academic units, a cumulative high school grade point average in those academic units, and ACT or SAT-I (critical reading & math components only) test scores. FAMU does not accept students who receive a Certificate of Completion. Satisfying minimum requirements does not guarantee admission to limited access programs.

What is a transfer applicant?
Any student who has earned at least 12 semester hours of college credit following graduation from high school is considered a transfer applicant.
Transfer applicants with fewer than 60 semester or 90 quarter hours of college work are considered lower-level transfers. They must meet the first-time-in-college requirements in accordance with Florida Board of Education Admission Rules, should have a minimum 2.0 grade point average in all college work, and be in good academic standing at the last institution attended.

A transfer applicant with fewer than 60 semester or 90 quarter hours of college work must meet all freshman and transfer requirements. They must submit:

• An application for admission.
• A non-refundable $25.00 application fee.
• Official high school transcript (Speede Code: 730000000148000).
• Official transcript from each college or university attended (current up to time of application).
• Completers of high school by GED must provide an official copy of test scores (as well as a partial high school transcript).
• Official SAT-I or ACT score.

A transfer applicant with more than 60 semester or 90 quarter hours of college work or who has earned an Associate in Arts degree from a Florida Community College must have at least a 2.0 grade point average. If an applicant has attended more than one institution, the cumulative grade point average from all institutions must be at least 2.0. An applicant must also be in good academic standing at the last institution attended. Meeting minimum requirements, however, does not guarantee admission to limited access programs.
